Test
fit of the canard sanding the fuselage to get the correct angle of attack.
I
decided to make my tabs out of plywood, I know some have used Clark foam but
I liked the idea of wood.
Here
you can see the tab and tab pad on F22 which I had to build up with 6 layer
to get the canard square with the fuselage. The aluminum is there as a
spacer for the build up after final fitting. As some other builders did I
removed some foam in this area and used flox to fill. I this way I can still
do some dialing in later on during finishing. The F22 bushing will be
installed in Chap. 13 during the nose build.
With
the flox pad still green I set the canard in place until cure, this makes
for a perfect fit with no gaps.
Here
you can see the finish tab and the angle I had to sand into the elevator to
have it clear the fuselage as call out for in the book. I did not finish the
end of the elevator because I wanted to wait until finishing, where the
build up of Super Fill may require some additional sanding.
Glassing
the fuselage under the canard location. The Hard points at each end are for
the rudder puddles as they are the hanging type.
Added
the ice guards.
