  • Built by Lawrence Smith, I'm the 4th owner. I've owned the plane since 1997, and have owned it the longest. I like to call myself the second-builder of the plane. When I bought it, it was a non-flying wreck. I installed Long-eze gear, re-finished the paint, upgraded the interior, and did a top overhaul of the engine. That took about a year and a half (with much thanks to Al Fink). I flew it for about 15 hours, when my hangar neighbor's hangar caught fire and totaled the plane. I bought it back from the insurance company, rebuilt the wings, and repaired the damage (another year.....) and flew it again in 1998/99. I've since completely rebuilt the engine, adding aprox 25hp, and maintain the plane to IFR standards. I've looged about 1000 hours in it to date.

  • I purchased Long-EZ N86WK from Willis "Joe" Kusy in September of 1997. Joe built her stock, straight & strong and she flies great. No plans to swap the O235-L2C for a larger engine. I ve flown her to Florida twice (Sun-N-Fun 1998 and a snorkeling and camping trip in 1999), and many shorter trips. I added an electric landing brake actuator which I really like. I m currently developing an ambitious, low cost, very full featured custom EZ multifunction display with an 8" color LCD touch screen. Feature list is "everything but the kitchen sink". Primary design goals are very low cost, reliable and intuitive. Just add GPS/NAV/COM, transponder and fly. Solid state gyro instruments when the price performance improves.
