Nose extension.

Planning to extend my nose.

Not sure exactly how to get the smooth shape I'm looking for.  Anybody got plans or specs on how to do it right ?

I just eyeball them as the link shows, never had any plans(I've done 4 now) but I think there are some templates floating
around.

If you just extend the lines from the fuselage down to where you want the point to be it works out pretty well. I
was told when looking from the side that the nose should taper to about a golf ball size radius and looking from
the top about a softball size radius for the most pleasant look. The nose should also come to a point about a third of
the way up from the bottom of the fuselage which is about 8".

I also rough out the side view first, then the top view, not both at once. One the top and side are close I
round the edges. Use a wire brush to start and then a long sanding board as you get closer.

Thanks for the responses.   I hope I don't have to get too involved. I'm not sure I want to cut that much away.   But . . .we'll see.

Yes I have.  Change them to Matcos.

Very nice report.   Are you flying yet ?

I'm not sure I want to tackle this retro . . .Don't want to commit to so much time to do it.  I'm adding a larger engine  ( O-320 ) which I understand needs more ballast for W&B so I think I'll have to add some weight which I'm not fond of either, but I think I'll be in the air sooner.

Who, me?  Not even close.  I'm just some hack that thinks he's going to build his own airplane.  I don't even have a license to fly one yet.

Burt might roll his eyes though.  His desire was for a very small and very light,  easy to fly and very maneuverable bird.
