I had been under the impression that the designator for a Long EZ was LGEZ and have used that with ATC for a couple years.  I just looked up aircraft designators for experimental aircraft and they only have 3, based on cruise speeds.  Anyone know which is correct?   ???

After two "Long story short" posts asking for help, I think it's only fitting we get some details on what caused these issues!  I'm putting brake cooling vents in my wheel pants, contrary to some expert advice, because I think I'm not good enough to never make these same mistakes and feel some drag and/or efficiency loss is preferrable to the results of these pictures.
So WHAT HAPPENED?  How do we rookies avoid this?

I looked up the parking area and it does seem to be at the end of a paved taxiway.  This will work just fine if the sod isn't too soft.  Am hoping to get there this weekend.

Is there any hope of camping without being too far off the pavement?  Small tires and tight wheel pants means no soft grass taxiing for me.  I understand they say to have a sign to show the ground help saying "pavement only' but then I'm camping with the plane.  What have you folks done?

6"x6"x6" Sabre extension with 6"x3/8" crush plate and 3/8" Sabre prop bolts.  SAE #2.  I upgraded props and went to a 7" face extension with a 7" crush plate and 7/16" bolts.

Are you actually pushing and activating the rudders?  It takes some push at cruise speed.  If you have the stock pedals they are designed so you can move your feet around and past them.  Mine are not and had to be moved.....

In Terry Yake's Non-Builder Guide there used to be a paragraph 3.1.2.B on gear leg fairings.  It is no longer in the document.  I printed it out back when so have the writing but was hoping to find a link that was embedded with sketches of the process.  Any ideas?   :(

Yahoo groups - Canard Aviators - files - Canard Flyer.zip - Appendix A guide - end of the document.  Just one of several floating around.  It's probably best to have an excellent canard inspector do the first couple or three Conditionals.  Each one will find something the others missed... and they know these planes!
