Hangar Flying / Gas Shock
« on: March 20, 2018, 10:13:11 AM »
Have been out of touch with flying for a year now and can't find my notes and links for a canopy gas strut.  Anyone know where to get one, length and strength?  Am thousands of miles from the plane so can't see it to figure it out myself.
Thanks!

If you can't walk on the tarmac barefoot I'd be seriously worried about the condition of your composite after a few 115° days.  More knowledgeable people should chime in shortly.
Friend has a Long EZ that has sat outside in Chicago for 20 years.  Flies regularly during the season.  Always covered and shovels the snow off when needed.

Call the fellow at Aircraft Magneto Service in Washington.  Really great guy will be very helpful and educate you, as he did me.  They may have moved.

Being very electrically challenged I had the same problem trying to check my mag wiring.  Turns out, and hopefully a smarter person will explain it to you, it will always show continuity and you can't test it that way.  Good luck.

Eric,
Try the yahoo canard group.  Most knowledgable folk are there plus a couple questionables....
Otherwise try Beagle at canardfinder.com
He has a trove of plans and parts listings.
Good luck.

Hangar Flying / Re: Builder Advice Please
« on: June 01, 2016, 10:04:10 PM »
From what I remember there are some builders down your way that might be more helpful with a look see at this plane.  Buying a homebuilt without personal qualifications or knowledgeable inspection is not the best approach.  Wayne is certainly knowledgeable of the Long EZ.  May not want the liability but you ought to find someone. Well worth the money.  If you blindly buy a junker it could get real expensive.  There are several of those actually flying.....
