You might check out a Pick and Pull yard to get a gas filler door latch off a late model car and get it to work much cheaper?
I wanted to do this on my oil filler door but that's on a piece of removeable cowling and opens a whole other can of worms....

As someone who was also taken to the cleaners by a famous canard guru I understand your frustration. He was broke and needed the money too. But when you realize they have no pride or character and are telling the world you (as a Rookie) are the problem, you just move on. I've repaired and redone a lot that was charged at top rates assuming it would be done to top standards and wasn't. But I gave up when I realized there would be no reimbursement and instead found there are a lot of really great canard people out there. I hope you get back into it if it is truely your passion. Have already flown 3 days this week and can't tell you what a joy it is. Bite the bullet, lick your wounds and find a good plane. Good luck. :wink:

Hangar Flying / Odyssey Batteries

I've been very impressed with the Odyssey battery that was recommended when I was looking for a replacement. I got the smaller one, 680 vs. the 925 for ease of mounting right now. Will look into the 925 for the extra weight when switching engines this fall. It's remarkable such a little battery can crank an O-320 so very easily. Can be mounted in any position as it is sealed.
