Cozy Mark IV # 1334
In December 2004, I started the construction of a Cozy Mark IV homebuilt aircraft from plans.
The Cozy Mark IV is a four place, canard pusher aircraft. It was designed by Nat Puffer and is based
on Burt Rutan's Long-EZ design. Nat's plane is shown above (shortly after he retired and sold it).
Construction of my plane began in California and then continued in Maryland. The initial pace of construction
was average (no kids) and is now very slow (three kids). The completion date is a moving target. At the
end of 2009, my plane sat on all three wheels for the first time. My kids enjoy pretending to ride in
it and I can raise and lower the nose with the electric nose lift. I also take them for real airplane rides in rented
Cessnas from time to time. By the time the Cozy is completed, I will probably be using it to visit them in college!
