Primer and Paint

OK guys I need some expert advice! First let me say I am NOT a painter. I have a friend willing to apply the paint. I am trying to do everything else learning as I go. I have the bottom of the fuselage covered with smooth prime from Polyfiber. So far everything looks good. I do not plan to use Polyfiber top coats! I have heard good and bad reports about smooth prime. Any advice on finishing the plane after the micro fill stage would be appreciated.

I had very poor results with smoothprime, though some people seem to have had favorable results.  Even so, I would strongly recommend against using it and would go so far as to suggest taking it off the bottom.  On the other hand, if you have topcoat problems later on the bottom of the plane, it would be less noticable.  But you will kick yourself for not taking off when you were at a stage when it was easy to do so.  Im in the camp that finds that the only thing worse than sanding micro is repainting an Ez.

I originally used Mortons Eliminator, under PPG base coat / clear coat.

I'm now using a generic primer sold under the GatorGrit label(local auto parts stor) with Dupont Centuri.
