micro switch for canopy warning system?
« on: May 30, 2005, 11:34:20 PM »
Ok... My warning system hasn't worked since I bought my Long
EZ many months ago cause the micro switch is broken.... Now I am at the point on the list that I am ready to fix it.... ( new top overhaul, new radio, new ILS, New intercom...new nose strut.... good thing I found all this stuff for free in a dumpster...would have been expensive otherwize)

I will look at the plans ...but wondering if anyone knows, off the top of the heads, were that switch can be bought and what it is?

Thank in advance..

... 2 hours of flight time on the new engine...working good.

Hope you are all getting a some good time in the air.

Dave

Of course it depends on whether the switch was installed according to plans (which mine isn't), but I got mine and a nice warning horn from Radio Shack for a total of $22.37.

Works great!

Dave,

i appreciate your comment on check lists.... the other day I took off without my electric fuel pump on...I'm probably the only one who has ever done this...

My post taxi check list..

C- controls free and correct
I - instruments set (attitude, dg, radios tuned, alt. set, oil pressure, charge check)
G - Quality checked, fuel selector valve correct, caps check, quantity check
A - Attitude set for take off
R - Run up ( mags at 1,800, Carb heat, Idle check)
S - seat belts canopy (push it up hard with my hand) airspace clear, passenger groovey,

Pre- take-off

Pump
Lights
Heat
squak
Clock
talk

Anybody have any pearls about check lists?

Plans say switch # is 275-1102.. Radio Shack doesn't appear to stock that # any more...hmmm. I hope the 275-016 will do it.. Dave

For less than $3, get it.  That's the one I used and hey, it's a switch!  Check out their buzzer/beeper.  They have different db's and you want one that you can deffinately hear, but can still function when it is going off.  My buzzer was originally wired to the low fuel lights and under 1/4 tanks, would go off.  It was so LOUD that I couldn't hear the tower!  Needless to say, I replaced it.
