I'd like to convert my 150HP Lycoming O-320E2D to an IO-320.

Does anyone know if there is there more I need to do other than replace the carb with the Silverhawk fuel injection system and switching to a high pressure mechanical and electric fuel pump?

Has anyone made this conversion?  Was it worth it in performance and improved fuel economy?

Check out air flow performance. They make a complete kit with everything you will need and they are more performance oriented then the old bendix system. More HP, smoother runing and better economy

I am about to make the exact same installation/modification on my Berk-EZ. www.berkut13.com has a great engine install section and mine should end up being similar to that. He shows the install of the Bendix/Silverhawk servo and the K&N air filter. The Silverhawk is a smaller servo and a simpler install. Airflow performance is a little heavier and requires some secondary mounting fixtures. It does provide more power, higher performance, and a very thorough installation kit though. I'll take another look at airflow but will probably end up going with the Silverhawk for simplicity's sake. Here is my Engine/Accessories list:

O-320-E2D 560 SMOH

I am in the middle of doing a change over to FI in my long EZ. If I had a dynafocal engine mount and the NACA lower air intake it would of gone pretty easy using the airflow performance kit.  But having a conical mount and the male scoop made it a real chore, there is barely room for the fuelpump and filter and if you use the 85 degree elbow that comes with the kit there is not any clearance with the fire wall. Don Rivera and every one at Airflow Performance seem to be very nice and helped me with the clearance problems ( I ended up mounting the fuel control vertically insted of pointing forward.) Also be ready to install push pull cables for the engine controls if you have the motorcycle type that the plans had us put in. and don't forget to install a larger circuit breaker for the electric fuel pump...
