Looking to connect with Long or Vari owner for chat and a ride in Seattle area

Hello all,

I have been interested in both the Long and Vari for many years, ever since working at Santa Monica Airport back in the early 90's. I now live in the Seattle area, and am moving in the direction of making my dream come true by buying one. I have been reading the forums for a long time and am familiar with the wing corrosion issue in the Vari. I would love the opportunity to sit in one and talk shop with an owner in my local area. If they are comfortable with taking me up, I will pay the gas (the politically correct term would be split expenses). I am 5'9 and 170 lbs so size shouldn't be an issue. If anyone is in my area, or you know of someone that is, please reach out to me. Thanks....Eric

I am away from home and do not have a flying canard so i will not be a lot of help.  HOWEVER you can join CSA by sending
$30 to Terry Schubert (make the check out to HIM, not CSA).  9283 Lindbergh Blvd.  Olmsted Falls, OH  44138-2407

You will get the Jan. issue and the directory right away.   Then you can contact members in WA.   You can start with Joe Hull
who has a Cozy 425-898-7972.   Most of the owners/pilots have Longezes or Variezes.   A ride in either of those is not as
good as a ride in a Cozy, Eracer, Aerocanard, or Velocity as you can see more riding the side-by-side aircraft.   There are 29
CSA members in the directory so I cannot give the phone # for each one.    You could also contact the state representative for
the CSA, Joe Person 425-481-3645.   Joe has a beautiful Varieze and is more knowledgeable than many or most of the CSA
members.   He possibly knows some canard guys that are not CSA members but can give you a ride.

Thanks for the reply Bruce. I will call Joe to talk to him about his Vari, and contact Terry to sign up for CSA. I appreciate the feedback as well on the advantage of riding in a side by side config...Eric

In April you can ride with me, side by side.    Of course that is in my Ercoupe.  I can make a 85 mph cruise and 110 going
downhill.  <grin>

Happy to give you a ride in the Eze, and give you other familiarization info, etc., regarding VariEze, Long-EZ, etc.  Give me a shout per the number given.
