You might want to check out the CAD drawings in the downloads: http://www.ez.org/downloads.htm. Not sure how complete
they are but it might help.

Also x-plane.com and x-plane.org has several canard aircraft like the Vari/Long and Cozy. I believe you can get accurate measurements
from the plane builder app in x-plane.

We have been experiencing problems with the server that powers the ez.org site the past
two or three weeks. There may have been times where you were not able to get to the site.

I think we have it stable for now. Our plans are to replace the server to increase the capacity
as soon as time permits. The server is located in a 68,000 sq ft data center near downtown Dallas and
its not a simple matter to make the transition to a new server. I hope we are OK for a while but please bear with
us if you have problems.

I have been working on a new EFIS/Engine management system and the project
is near the point were I will need to bring additional users into the test process. This has been
a long-time back burner project that really heated up the past 6 months. My goal is to
make it available later this year for less than $1500. The features will compare well to
available units from Dynon/MGL/Aspen/etc.

I will be needing Long-EZ, Varieze, Cozy or RV'ers that would like to serve as beta testers for
pre-production units at a substantial cost savings. Obviously flying aircraft are primarily needed
but if you're at the stage of installing your panel and would like to help debug the install
documentation that might help as well. I'd like to have a few people lined-up when I feel
comfortable enough to let the pre-production units out the door. I anticipate the time frame to
be around the first of June.

If you have any cools ideas or features you would like to see implemented please feel free to post
them here or email me. Questions are also welcome.

The information and documentation is sparse at this point but I've put together
a small page or information with a few pictures. The bulk of the information is taken from
the CSA article Terry published in the April 2010 edition.

You can assign any serial number you would like. Complete plans include two building manuals with section
one dealing with the airframe and the second manual dealing with the engine installation. There should be

As far as the materials, one thing to watch out for is expired epoxy as it has a short shelf life. I would try to get
an experienced builder to take a look at the project. The cost and time to build just the fuselage is relativity small
compared to everything that comes after and is a great place to learn the process.

There are many parts that were sold by Brock(no longer in business) that would be a plus if they are included. But if not
most are being sold be other suppliers or can be made if not.

I'll respond but hopefully you will get someone that has done it to tell you more. I don't have
the measurements but my Varieze only feels slightly tighter to me than my Long-EZ.
I know that some Vari's in the tub stage were completed as Long-EZ's so there is not
much difference if that is possible. I would guess the difference is an inch or two at the most. I have
read of other builders making depressions in the side of both the Long-EZ and Varieze to allow more
elbow room but I don't recall reading about anyone making the Varieze wider overall but I would not be
surprised if someone has done it. Maybe Bill James?

I'm curious as to why do you want to build a Varieze over the Long-EZ?

You can still use the old features you just won't have the best results with the new ones. Hanger Flying will
work as it always has. If it were an easy fix I'd try to support IE, but when Firefox, Opera and Google Chrome work right
out of the box it's hard to put much time into it. Microsoft has had years to correct things and they just cannot
get it right no matter how hard they try.
