You really should join CSA.   You get a directory and 4 newsletters.   The directory would
tell you that there are 2 CSA members in New Hampshire and 13 in Massachusetts.   I am
not going to send all those phone numbers.   Most have email addresses, too.   You can
contact some of them and drive down.   They can tell you a lot more than I can.   They
also know a few guys that are canard people and are NOT in CSA, so you can meet them
as well.   Bob Misterka has a Cozy; you really should see it before you rule out Cozys;
the nice thing about Cozys is having the passenger/copilot next to you instead of way
off in the back.   The position of the stick depends on which side you sit in.   
The extra luggage space is enough to chose the Cozy over the Longeze.

The CSA membership is about equal to 5 gallons of gas.......

One other thing... what is a Long EZ LE... is it a longer version I<ve read that a LE is needed if one ever want to add a retractable gear system. Could be something I would be interested in... but it's no deal breaker,

The Eracer, the Berkut, and the Aerocanard have retracting gear, I believe and that is
all except for a very small number of Longezes that have or had retracting gear. 

I am NOT an expert (I am a biologist so I know very little about aerodynamics),
the following is just my opinion.  IMHO I would not try to retrofit a Longeze with retracting
gear.   Anything that you do, adds weight.   The added weight is reflected by your having
to fly just a little more nose-up for just a little more lift.   But that adds drag.   So what
have you gained by the retracting gear?    Proper streamlining of the main gear and wheel
pants will result in very little drag from the main gear (see back issues of the CSA newletters).

Anyway it would be a very long, hard project.
