Hangar Flying / Spin on oil filter Question?
« on: January 22, 2006, 07:56:06 PM »
Thanks for the info.  I found a vernatherm valve on ebay and closed it out for $68.  Now if it works as advertised I'll be in good shape.

Hangar Flying / Spin on oil filter Question?
« on: January 20, 2006, 01:54:32 PM »
Just installed a new spin on oil filter purchased from Ken Miller.  I do not have a vernatherm on my engine so I will have to use a plug instead.

Is the $30 plug the only game in town, or are there other methods in use?

Thanks

Hangar Flying / cabin heat
« on: December 14, 2005, 10:05:38 PM »
My Long has a heater that I think would work great, but it only gets its air from inside the engine compartment.

Where would be ga ood place to tap into some ram air to get more heated air pushed forward?

Hangar Flying / MPH or Knots
« on: December 14, 2005, 09:34:34 PM »
Airspeed indicator in knots.  But I have two onboard GPS's.  One panel mount and one hand held.  Panel mount GPS show knots and hand held shows MPH.

Why do I have it that way?  Well, because when I look at my handheld MPH GPS it shows a BIGGER A/S number:)

Makes me feel like I'm going faster!!!!!!!!!

Hangar Flying / Engine Question
« on: August 31, 2005, 03:09:06 PM »
I recently installed a K&N replacement filter on my Elllison TBI.  Now when I go full rich and full throttle my engine runs rough.  I have to lean my engine to get it to run smoothly.

What would cause this to happen.  I have not changed my air inlet configuration, just the filter.

I have also installed a new catto 3 blade, would that effect it in any way?

Thanks

Hangar Flying / Craig Catto's daughter OK
« on: August 09, 2005, 04:05:15 PM »
All,

I recently heard from Craig Catto (Catto Props) via email concerning my prop.  It seems that his daughter was  involved in an aircraft accident.  All onboard survived.  Lets keep Craig and his family in our thoughts and prayers.

Hangar Flying / Getting ready for Oshkosh
« on: July 19, 2005, 11:52:28 PM »
Just wondering if everyone is spending as much time at the hangar as I am the past week or so?

This will be my first trip to Oshkosh and was wondering about some travel/camping tips from some of the veterans out there.

Thanks

Hangar Flying / Nose gear tolerances..
« on: June 11, 2005, 12:22:01 PM »
While inspecting the nose gear section I notice a certain amount of lateral play where the strut attaches to the airframe.  I know a certain amount is needed and mine may be just fine.  I was wondering what the actual tolerance is?  Thanks in advance..

Hangar Flying / Cracked Prop!
« on: June 01, 2005, 03:41:14 PM »
Yes they do.  You can go to their website found in the links section to read up on them.  This prop was on the plane when I bought it.  I knew I would eventually upgrade to a Catto 3 blade, but not this soon.  I think the sensinich props are around $1000 or so.

Talked to Craig Catto last night. (Anyone got a spare Catto laying around?)  Waiting to hear on availablity.
