Oil Heat

Waiter or Drew,

I'm about to tackle hookin' up my oil lines to my second oil cooler under the GIB thigh support.  I bought the aluminum lines you specified (Waiter) from Spruce,  and I remember you telling me that the flare angles for aviation were different than for automotive.   I have a couple questions.

1) Can I still use automotive fittings and flares ?  Heavier ?

2)  I plan to use flex lines from the engine to the firewall and solid lines after that.  How do I anchor / transition at the firewall ?

I would attempt to use aviation, if possible (38 deg).

I'm going to install bulkhead fittings at my firewall. Its an AN6 hose fitting on both sides.

Depending how far I get with the design, I'll at minimum install the bulkhead fitting on the firewall, connect the hoses on the engine side, then just install a plug on the hell hole side for now.

Use the aviation flare (37deg).  Don't use the automotive flare (45deg)---not enough surface area---prone to leak.  You can get an adequate 37 deg flare tool from Summit for a fairly cheap price (30-40ish dollars).
