Thanks, I was kicking myself a little because I tried to have no downtime at all but
it ended up being about 40 minutes plus a few false starts. I had forgotten to install
the session caching subsystem (sharedanced) that parts of the site uses and I had
to find it, compile it and get it configured after I had taken the old site offline.
I'm pretty happy with the performance, it's amazing what 4 year newer servers can do. The
usage is barely cracking 10% on the CPUS's now and disk is about the same. Before we
were hammering the server at close to full capacity at times from the various functions on the
server. The photo section just pops the images up now instead of a slow roll-down.
No issues here, me thinks the transfer went well
Sign of a good admin: Major move, or reconfiguration, nobody notices/complains
Of note, page loads seem much faster now, much.
