Mike,
I see you have not commented on this on E*Bay.  His seller rating is very high.  You need to post there to warn buyers of other items.

I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who is flying from the bootlegged plans or the Open EZ program.  There is also a lot of interesting innovation going on without an equivalent amount of engineering from what I understand.  The only one I've seen flying was really roomy but burned a lot of fuel to go the same speeds.  I suppose it may have been worth it to someone.  Hope they all turn out as safe as the originals!

This is an old listing on the members list:

Diehl, Gordon    email:  mldiehl@yahoo.com
Long-EZ N82CD was built by Gordon Diehl and Ron Corley and first flew in March 1983.  It now has over 1500 hours and still is flying great trips such as to our second home in BAJA where a soft field is used.  Any info I could give to anyone who is interested in seasoned experience, let me know.  Gordon and Mary Lou Diehl.  (By the way, that's Air Force One in the background!  ed.)

Looks like it was a nice plane with a good engine mount that, if not cracked after 1500 hours, was most likely not flimsy.  Sounds like it isn't so nice any more.... :'(

For Sale/Wanted / FS-Terra TRT 250D
« on: January 21, 2011, 04:09:00 PM »
Just back from the shop with fresh yellow tag and tuneup. Paid $775 plus half of repair costs. Includes tray which is about 1" longer than the non-digital transponder so I've found another analog unit that fits my shorter tray. Make offer.

Tom, where did you find a new servo?  I have a backup head but could use a servo too....
On another forum recently they said Trio would take a look at a Navaid head to troubleshoot, might try them for your servo issue......?

Just back from the shop with fresh yellow tag and tuneup.  Paid $750 and have never used it.  Has it's own tray which is about 1" longer than the non-digital transponder so I've found one that fits my shorter tray.  Make offer.

Hangar Flying / Long EZ plans
« on: November 25, 2010, 09:58:16 AM »
I've been following the development of these bootleg plans for a couple years now.  Have any aircraft built with these flown yet?  If so how are it's performance numbers compared to 'stock' built planes?  I know of a fellow out West that finished up a hybrid Long EZ with velocity strakes and a lot of shoulder room but it seemed like he was burning a lot of fuel for that room at about the same speeds as plans built.  Just curious.......

Try out the instructional workbook and build the practice parts.
http://www.actechbooks.com/products/act431/
If you enjoy that experience you may be a composite guy!  Many RV builders dread the composite parts, others enjoy them and visa versa.  Here is a guy that is pretty good at both!  http://www.vansairforce.com/community/showthread.php?t=44856&highlight=Fiberglass&page=2
I didn't build my canard but have made some parts and would rather sand all day than drive rivets.......
