leak detection

I am currently in the process of pressure checking the fuel tanks on my varieze. The tanks will not hold presssure. The bleed down time from 3000' is approximately 1 minute. My connections are sealed. The hose is new surgical tubing type so I don't think it is the equipment or process that is flawed.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to find the leak other than the cigarrette smoke method mentioned in the plans?

I remember that someone using a freon leak detector. There are
very sensitive and it took only minutes to find the leak.

I wonder if an auto parts store would have a detector I could use?

Walter,

This leak sounds substantial enough that you may be able to use soap solution to find the leak.

Before you invest to much time and energy, try this:

Pressurize the tank (blow into it, no more than about 1/2 psi (150kts)

Mix about 2 or three tablespoons of dishwashing liquid into a cup of water.

Use a paint brush and start brushing onto fittings, connections, joints, corners, etc. look for bubbles.

Make sure it is not the fuel caps that are leaking.  They do not seal all that well.

I knew they would not seal well so I have put off installing them until I get the pressure test done.
