Long-EZ Maingear

Hello all,
I'm busy gathering materials for my build, and I've noticed a lot of variation in the appearance of the maingear hoop on various aircraft.  It looks like a lot of builders add a fairing to streamline this piece, sometimes with quite a bit of chord, but I'm wondering if everyone generally uses the same hoop underneath.  Or is there variation here as well?  Any advice is appreciated.  I've got a couple of possible leads on maingear, and I just want to make sure there isn't more to this than I think.

The main gear hoop is the same on all long-ez's. As far as I know
Featherlite was the only maker that was approved by Rutan.

There are many builders that add an aerodynamic cover to
improve airflow. The mod nets about 10mph if done correctly.
