I have my LEZ almost ready to fly and am tring to change my insurance with Avemco from storage to liability. They will not insure me unless I have 2 hours of flight time. I am in Michigan and there are not alot of LEZ's here. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you

Is that 2 hours "IN TYPE" or "DUAL"

If its "IN TYPE". you  could fly the first two hours "un-insured". Make sure you make a couple log entries that indicated your "two hours" so that you will be covered.

I had the same situation when I completed my airplane, only they said I needed 10 hours in type.  So I did what Waiter suggests, I went without for 10 hours, then called the agent and said "okay I have 10 hours."

They say I need 2hours of flight instruction in my plane or one like it and written approval from a CFI.

Didnt know about your CFI requirement, that changes things.  If you cant find one to do that let me know.  Where are you in Michigan? We have several CFI's who work with us at Pontiac.

Thanks Harry,
   I am by Grand Rapids and, if you recall, you stopped by a year or so ago. Is there someone out of Pontiac that can help me out? Avemco did say I needed a CFI to sign off.

You may be able to find a experienced longez guy in your area.  He could do the initial taxi tests and test flight.  The insurance company may accept him instead of a CFI to do your checkout.

I recently checked out a brand new low time pilot in my longez when I sold it.  I am not a CFI but the insurance company was much more comfortable having an experienced guy in TMS than having some CFI with no time
