"Operating Limitations"

Can anyone supply "Chapter & Verse" where operating limitations are required to be carried onboard?

Does FAA look for them during ramp checks?

Hi, Barney.  Yes, they are required.  They seem keen on making sure that us experimental guys have our stage 2 op limits.
Yes, they will see your plane on the ramp one day and ask for them.  I picked up a passenger at Hayward (HWD) to go to Reno (RNO) and had to show them to the FAA inspector, who was actually checking out some planes in another area.  He saw my EZ and decided to check me out.  The first thing he asked was if I had my stage 2 operating limitations, then proceeded to check out the rest of the plane.  He was actually a decent guy and helpful, but he COULD have been a real pain.  Fortunately for me and my passenger, he wasn't.  If you don't have your operating limitations, your plane is considered unairworthy and therefore would/ could be grounded until you get them.

On your 8130-7 (Special Airworthiness Certificate) Look in Block "E".

"OPERATING LIMITATIONS DATE xx/xx/xx ARE PART OF THIS CERTIFICATE"

Bingo - your operating limitations are now part of the Special Airworthiness Certificate, As such, they must be available to the pilot at any time during operation of the aircraft.

My VEZE's cool, but I looked at an airplane yesterday, no POH, and no operating limitations!

Sorry...must of forgot this part of my basic training... where would I find the operating limitations and what do they look like?

Operating limitations should be three or four pages. Standard size paper, 8 1/2 x 11 paper (FSDO or DAR stationary)

Basically, they define limitations during Phase I and Phase II operations. Test area, what you can and can't do, etc, etc,

I laminated mine and keep them in the plane with the other stuff.
