You, as builder, are in charge of setting the weight limits - Dick and Mike went around the southern oceans with O-360s and Long EZs weighing up to 2450 lbs. They worried about spreading the gear with the weight. Yes, you have to keep the heavier weights in mind on final with a little more speed and I'd stay away from aerobatics with heavy planes, particularly with pods on them...touch base with me and I'll give you my full blub on weight. The Varieze is a little more limited with wings 33% smaller...but I've seen them fly at well over 800 lbs empty...
