New alternator needed.

There was an alternator thread or info here somewhere that discussed a Toyota alternator option. Mine is toast, diodes burned out (my fault) and apparently is an oddball alt. no one will take as a core. Unknown type or brand.  So...need a new source that dosen't break the bank. I have external rectifier, a Zeftronics. Suggestions?? I know several car options with external regulators are out there. For a Lycoming IO-320 engine on a Long.

Hi

I am using a large automobile alternator.   Due to my weight and balance problem
and all of the time I wasted making a bracket for it, I wish I had gone with the
smaller alternator that B & C sells.   It is a bit expensive and does not put out 
thousands of amps, but it would have been right for me.

I believe it mounts where one of the magnetos would have been.   I have EI
so I had to cover that hole anyway.   Or maybe it mounts where the vacuum
pump would been; I don't have one of those either.

I have a Spare alternator, I think its a Bosch, it has a field wire.

I recently traded up to a plane power alternator.  I have the previous car alternator (toyota?) with bolt and bracket for a o320 lycoming.  It was working fine up to when I switched.  It is internally regulated and I got a little concerned about the over voltage situation.  Anyways it's yours for shipping costs.  I'm in the Seattle area.
