The new bird came with a cover that goes from the pitot tube back to the spinner. Nice as it is I want something that covers the canard and fuel caps as well. This plane did not have any weather stripping and when I was caught in a storm in St. Augustine I discovered about a liter of water in the nose. Once I put the nose gear down the water drained.
Last weekend I put some weather stripping in and I think I have solved a fair amount of the leak problem. We will know for certain in the next few days. However, one significant source for leakage remains; the elevator tube opening. I am hopeing that a cover that covers the canard area as well will significantly reduce the intrusion of the rain.
What other tricks are folks using to beat the elements out there? A hanger is not in my immediate future so I need a good solution. The plane is living on the ramp in Roanoke Va (KROA) for the next little bit.
One last thing before I go. Is there a place to purchase a removable cover for the P-51 style scoop?
