Registering a previously registered Long-EZ
« on: August 04, 2010, 07:25:29 AM »
How do I go about registering a previously registered Long-EZ? The previous owner de-registered due to liability. I understand the paperwork aspect. I am really curious about the lack of construction documentation. Are there DAR's that will sign-off on a project based upon an airframes past airworthy status.

Hi Justen

Where do you live or have the aircraft.   That info may be important.

This would be the best guy to ask:

Ask the DAR
By Mel Asberry

Editor’s Note: We’re delighted to introduce Mel Asberry, an experienced Experimental-aircraft builder and a Designated Airworthiness Representative, one of many private citizens given the authority by the FAA to perform airworthiness sign-offs on Experimental/Amateur-Built aircraft. In this series, we’ll cover the major aspects of the final approval for flight and, for that matter, we’d also like to open the floor to questions. Send them to editorial@kitplanes.com with “Ask the DAR” in the subject line.—Ed
.

He can be found on the RV forum and Kitplanes magazine.  Seems to know his stuff pretty well.

I'd give Robert and Valerie Harris a call (901-475-3686 ). Here's a link to their web site...  http://www.ezjetinc.com/

They have been working on canards for a very long time and have the credentials as well... DAR, A&P, IA.

Best regards,
Bruce Sturgill

Hi Justen

The CSA state representative for Oklahoma is Lowell Dodson.   Call him at 918-231-7079
He is in Tulsa.   There are 2 other members in Tulsa, 1 in Lawton, 1 in Moore, and 1 in
Stillwater.   You should know those guys.   Ask Lowell who they are and how to reach
them (the CSA directory has all of them listed).   They will know more about the way
that the FAA for your area works.   Possibly one of them may be an FAA employee; I
know a FAA guy who is building a Cozy (but not in OK).

For info on CSA, see the home page of this website.
