Variable pitch prop. for Varieze

I bought a Varieze with a 0-200 continental engine, due to the difference of size and weight of the previous owner and me, I adjusted the CG, and gain a lot of stability and some speed (Thanks to the ez.org member who helped me on that matter).
But if i can believe what i heard, i could be able to fly faster, increase my cruise speed.
I wonder about installing an electric variable pitch prop. like the spruce catalog offer, that could be the best of the two world cruise prop. and climbing one.
Now does someone know about installing one on a pusher, i read about an ez.org pilot in Switzerland who did that.
To conclude i flew my eze (with the new cg) and put the aircraft on a shallow dive and used the extra speed to fly level on the momentum, the aircraft act very good, the fuselage is perfectly horizontal; but after a little while i loose the speed. Is it that at that moment, i would need more pitch?
Last question, i read about some vortex generator on the canard, to avoid the wet or mosquitos squished loss of lift, if somebody has knowledge on the subject, how much, how tall, where on the canard?

Odds are, a variable pitch prop will not gain you any more speed, in fact, I bet you will loose a little.

Most EZ fixed pitch pitch props are cut for speed (cruise prop).These props generally are operating at their maximum efficiency when cut correctly for three factors; 1) cruise speed, 2) Engine HP, and 3) cruise RPM.

A well built constant speed prop will also be cut for these three parameters;

I have an MT constant speed prop on my LongEZ, the blades were cut for 170KIAS, w/160hp, and 2300 rpm.

When comparing it strictly for max speed, my old Great American was 2 or three kts faster, and my Prince P tip was about 5 kts faster.

A constants speed will gain you significant performance at low speeds, takeoff, landing, and climb.

The constant speed will also be heavier, my MT weighs 45 lbs.

You can get vortex generators from these guys pretty cheap.

When I bought them for my Longez, they came with a template and instructions as to where to put them.

These are for a GU canard---not a Ronz canard

You might want to check with Frank Pullano, he flew an IVO electric variable pitch prop for years on his VariEZe.

Frank is well known in the canard community, and he used to race his EZ all the time.

I think Frank will tell you that he had good results with his IVO, both performance and longevity.

Cost wise, you can’t go wrong with a good wood prop.
