Any body have any pros or cons on the  E-Mag or the  P-Mag?  I would like info from Long-EZ pilots using these not from the mfgr.  Thanks Tom

Sad to say, a whole lotta problems reported with both over on the canard-aviators forum on yahoo groups.

I would really like to have a P-Mag to balance my Jeff Rose setup on my O-200, as the present mag has a lot of time on it.  However it looks like I'll have to replace the mag before they get the bugs out of the E/P-Mags (and have one developed for the O-200).

The company has reportedly been making everything "right," with their product - for the good news.

Brad is very good to work with and I think they are working through some of their problems.  I purchased a PMag for and will run it along with the standard mag for a period to see how it goes.  I will not be airborne for another 8 months however.

P-mags

I had planned on dual P-mags for my IO-320, but after reading of the high failure rate and problems, decided I don't want to risk it.

I'm going to stick with one Slick mag and one Rose ignition for now.

Maybe if they get the bugs worked out and develop a track record of reliability, I may consider replacing the one Mag with a P-mag.

It's a great idea, but it appears the implementation is just not there yet.

I went thru. 3 P-Mags and had quite an experience flight testing them.
What I don't understand is people are supposed to be running them with no problems, which points to a production problem, although the 3 I had gave the same symptoms, missfiring when hot and under load.
I am back on 2 old slicks and I need to make a decision on what to do.
1 Electoair/Lightspeed and a slick replacement. The favored choice is one electronic and one Mag.

I dont see why anyone would not keep at least one old faithful (magneto)!

I think the risks of using two electronic ignitions are much greater than the added performance over one mag.
