Need brake pads

Looking at the bird tonight I noticed that I will need some brake pads soon. This plane has Matco brakes installed. I dug around Aircraft Spruce and Wicks but was not able to find what I was looking for. Anyone out there running the same setup that can point me in the right direction?

But you will have to read the model number that is on the side of the brake calipers to see which ones to order.

Thanks for the links Drew.

I had looked over the brakes looking for model numbers and part numbers, but I was unable to find anything really telling. I did note that these brakes are a 3 pot set, similar to what I have on my motorcycle. I was unable to tell for certain if the pads were one peice units.

Last night I started digging through the paperwork that came with the plane. The only entry I find is in the airframe log and it just states that the old brakes were replaced with Matco brakes. No big help there.

It is easy to dig around with little result, especially with the brads or rivets.
It might be worth your effort to find Matco Manufacturing's site and order from them.
On my VariEze Matcos the pads are the same as for a Cessna 150 but the
 rivets/brads are different., longer i think. An initial phone call to Matco would help you determine
what model number you have and would be useful later if and when you rebuild the cylinders.  
The pad replacement is simple but if I didn't build the plane or if I was doing the brakes on it for the first time,
I would watch a seasoned A&P and give him the chance to look over the rest of the system and tell me why
he tightens the brads/rivets the way he does.

   Thanks for the info. I’ll give Matco a call tomorrow and see if they can lend some guidance. Up to this point I have done all of my maintenance under the watchful eye of two A&P’s that have a shop on the field. I think they get a kick out of working on this plane. They have the flight school on the field that I did my ticket at and when the Long-Ez is in the hanger it draws a crowed. Maybe that’s why they never charge me for labor or hanger space.
   
   The last time I had it in we pulled the cowling and let them paw over the motor. They did catch a couple of things that needed addressed. It  is comforting to have a couple of gurus give it a nod. Much like I do on this board!

That said, a big thank you to everyone on here that have helped me out over the past few years. I came really close to just hanging up the Canard dream. Big thanks folks.
