Glad to hear you intend to come to Canards de Mayo.
Don't forget to pick up your sunglasses!
On the X-Cor project, I watched Dick Rutan get the rocket plane distance record in the X-Ccor Rocket EZE. He flew from Mojave to California City, 15 miles! X-Cor are also building the prototype for the Rocket Racing League. It is being test flown by Ric Searfoss.
See you in May

Hangar Flying / Long EZ for Flight Sim
« on: February 23, 2008, 08:28:11 PM »
I downloaded the Oliver Marechal program and it's pretty good.
We are having lousy weather here in the Golden State so I spent a pleasant afternoon flying around my home airport, Columbia (O22).
The aircfaft is based on Hans Georg. Schmid's aircfaft that he built and flew on many famous flights.
I was saddened to learn that Hans was killed taking off in his Lancair last July in an attempt to set a record on a flight to Oshkosh
Here's some relavant links

Hangar Flying / Brakes
« on: February 01, 2008, 02:50:26 PM »
I have up front brake master cylinders based on the Debbie Iwatate sytem
which when hooked up to Grove wheels, brake calipers and discs give excellent braking. I lost a right brake after a heavy landing at Mojave, I think I went thru. wind shear, those desert winds can do strange things. I wasn't so lucky as you, I went off the left side of the runway and collected a large landing light. The first car on the scene brought Dick Rutan who was waiting to fly the X-Cor Rocket EZ to California City for the world record for distance for a rocket powered aircraft, later he did just that. The damage was a wrecked wheel pant and a bill from Kern County for a new landing light. The brake line had failed at the caliper, I have now replaced those plastic lines with a 5"" length of Stratoflex from the caliper to where the line goes into the gear leg. Mike Melville wrote a CP on replacing Nyloseal/ Nyloflex with Stratoflex for the entire system. The plastic lines suffer from U.V. degradation and need to be replaced every 5 years.

I have a LongEZ in FS 2004.It's not bad but it does fly with a Cessna cockpit. The performance parameters are not a 100% LongEZ but it is OK
