Hangar Flying / Teds Prop
« on: February 08, 2006, 03:56:58 PM »
I believe Ted sold his prop business to someone in the midwest, now doing business as Rowbear. I had a Ted's prop, then a Rowbear, same diameter and pitch, and they performed about the same. I upgraded to an O-320 on my Longez, and still have the Rowbear prop, but it's for an O-235.

Hope this helps. I have seen ads for Rowbear in the classified section of Kitplanes, so I'm sure he's still in business.  Quality was the same, and the Rowbear prop was indistinguishable from the Ted's. Same tooling.

Hangar Flying / How readable is the EFIS-Lite from BMA?
« on: December 25, 2005, 12:38:34 PM »
I installed an EFIS lite in my LongEz and have a half dozen flights on it. The bigger news is I also installed a two screen Chelton Sport.

The Efis lite is an easy installation. The readability, under all light conditions, is excellent. The brightness adjusts (manually) to everything from direct sunlight to night. The numbers are big enough and contrast excellent. Performance so far is good with one exception.

I have two SL30 navcoms, and on one of them there is no background hiss from the EFIS light, on the other there is. Two separate electrical systems, and interestingly the radio with the noise is on the other electrical system, not the one that powers the EFIS. Still working on it. All wiring is shielded.

The Chelton is too cool to believe, by the way. The installation was anything but straightforward.

I'm very impressed with  the capability, readability of the displays, and overall utility of the EFIS lite. I don't have any reliability data, but the EFIS lite looks great so far.
