Hangar Flying / Breaking down and trailering
« on: April 02, 2006, 05:37:54 PM »
Smercernary,

I am also an EZ newbie and just had to trailer my new Cozy III for the last 300 mi  of it's ferry from San Diego to St. Louis, so my experience may be of help, please feel free to email or PM me.   I got a lot of good input from the web but through luck and hard knocks.  A lot of things that are obvious to a builder are not quite so to a non-builder purchaser. BTW, I lived in Pcola during Primary about 17 yrs ago in the "other" service.

Hangar Flying / MPH or Knots

My Mooney's ASI was in MPH.  I thought I'd convert it to knots, but never did.  FWIW, it's unlikely in a light single, even an EZ you'll get any vectors from ATC with any other speed restriction than asking you to maintain your best speed.  If you are overtaking someone else they'll likely just turn you.  My experience

Hangar Flying / LEZ Empty Weight
« on: November 11, 2005, 10:09:31 AM »
Drew,

You said the Cozy MkIV is faster than the LEZ.  In your opinion, is it all due to bigger motor, or the Cozy MkIV somehow more aerodynamically efficient than the LEZ?

Put another way, how would the speeds of a MkIV with O-320 compare to an LEZ with O-320 assuming they were the same weight and similarly outfitted with wheelpants, etc.?

Does anyone know how the Cozy III compares in the same discussion?
And yes, I know that the speed differences normally may not make a huge difference in actual day to day trips.

Thanks,
Goose
(obviously trying to decided between a Long EZ and a Cozy)
