Richlands Va (6V3) will be having an air show on the 13th. Richlands is 88nm west of Roanoke Va (KROA). I will be flying there the morning of the show and plan to be in the air around 9AM. I will be departing Roanoke in a Cherokee 180 with my wife and her sister. The Richlands airport will close its runway to traffic at noon and reopen about 1400. There may be one other aircraft, a cozy, flying to the show with me.
This will be the first air show that I will be able to actually fly into since finishing my license so of course I’m excited. I would love to meet some of the canard drivers in the area. If you have the time and need an excuse to go flying, this will be a great flight over the Appalachian mountains with some fantastic views. Besides who does not like to watch the pros toss their plans around the sky.
I have spoken with the airport manager, Jerrod Powers, and he also said they may have a half off all fuel purchases at the end of the show; they are still working the bugs out on that one. He said they did it last year and it was a real hit so they are trying to do it again this year. There will also be the obligatory raffles for various items.
Hopefully some of you out there can make it.
Regards,
Allen
