Long Nose / Nose Art / Varieze
« on: May 07, 2006, 07:10:09 AM »
Hello,
I fly a VariEze, F-PMPZ, in France, close to Paris east side (LFPK Coulommiers Voisins).

I plan to make a new "extended" long nose for my plane, and I'm looking for a drawing (or dimensions) for the new NG31,  instead of the oritginal at Section 1, page 17-6.
Who can help me for that ?
A ".doc" document  (or a . cad, if not).

What is the new nose lenght ? 10" more ? Or which FS ?

(I fly a O-235 C2C)

Regards.
Gilbert

Long noses are usually done on Long Ezs to help compensate for a heavier O-320 engine instalation. I was not aware that Vari-ezes were also getting long noses for their heavier engine retrofits. They look pretty nicely proportioned as is.

Nevertheless, my understanding is that there are no actual "plans". This (ez.org) site has a pretty good article on extending noses. Also, Eric Cobb used to sell a video on the topic. Presumably, the extension is done "by eye" and would be the same whether for Vari or Long.

Although man, many noses have been extended, and apparently with no ill effects, Burt always felt the modification was "destabilizing". Good luck with your project.
