What is the best way to get strobe wires and antenna wires past the hard points on the back side of the spar? I know drilling holes is a bad idea, but can the wires be run through the spar?

Skyrocket, You do not mention what type of plane you have! Is it a Vari or Long is this new construction or refit.

If it is a Long Eze you can drill the hole out the outboard end and lead the wires forward from there to the hole in the inboard forward section of the wing.

If this is new construction and you haven't finished the strake leading edges, I opted for making a conduit along that edge directly outboard and not bother with the spar route at all.

Shorter cable runs as well.

It's new construction on a Long. I have the spar and wing complete. If I drill a hole in the end of the spar I would also have to drill a hole through the intermediate bulkhead. Would that be a problem??

If you go the spar route That would not be a problem. Those bulkheads only have a single ply on each side.I think this subject has come up in canard pushers so you might try a search. The plans specifically say to route through the spar so to do so is going to require holes  : )

I assume your trying to get your wires from inside the back seat, out to the the end of the strake where it intersects with the leading edge wing.

These can be routed inside the center spar. As mentioned, you'll need to drill a hole in the intermediate bulkhead (inside the center spar) and another hole on the end of the center spar where it butts up against a mounted wing.

I drilled the end bulkhead with a regular 3/4 hole saw drill bit, located in the centerof the end bulkhead. It should go through the bulkhead like butter.

Next, I used a piece of 3/8 inch threaded rod, 3ft long. I sharpened one end to a point, put the other end in my drill, and drilled the inner bulkhead.

This is how I ran my electrical lines and also my hydraulic lines for the retracts.
When you route your wires from the Hellhole area into the center spar, It OK to drill a small hole through the bottom of the centerspar. WARNING

WARNING :  TWO ITEMS

1) DO NOT drill into the spar caps.

2) DO NOT drill into the glass reinforcement area near the fuselage attach point. this glass extends out on the bottom (and top) on the center spar two or three inchess from the fuselage.

Take a look at my web site, you'll find a lot of photos taken of the centerspar and a couple that you can see how I ran wires from the hell hole.
