Long EZ 0-320 Batteries/Hot Starts
« on: September 18, 2010, 09:25:18 PM »
Wanted to poll fellow members what kinds of batteries are you using in your Long EZs (in the nose section), specifically with a 0-320 engine. Recommendations, Experience?

Also, because I'm located in the tropics, I've been having recent trouble with "hot starts". I'm hoping you folks can to share your particular procedures to handle hot starts.

Thanks in advance. Fly Safe!

If you have fuel injection,  hot starts are deal with by purging the warm fuel out of the system and introducing cool fuel to the distributor block.  If you don't have fuel injection, . .you might need to experiment with different methods.  One thing I've tried is to cut the ignition before shutdown instead of the fuel,  then when you restart, don't prime.  That might help. Only do this if you know you're going to start again soon.  Best wishes,  Glennbob.

Thanks Glenbob. I have a carburetor (wish I had injection)! I will try your recommendation.

To answer your question about batteries, a lot of us are using the Odyssey batteries with good luck.

Odyssey rocks, I have a trickle charger made just for it and haven't a problem.

Ditto on the Odyssey.
I have the PC-680, works well on an O-320.
