Throttle quadrant question

Anybody out there have good info on changing over to a push-pull system for the throttle (and mixture)? I once observed a Varieze make a precautionary landing (1977 or 1978 @ Whiteman airpark in Los Angeles), due to a broken throttle cable ... the spring held it wide open, and the pilot made a World War One approach using the mags to modulate power. The pilot was Burt Rutan ... the spring worked, but I would rather not rely on it. I have removed the airbrake lever (gone to electric), but I do have the Long EZ style pitch trim lever in the way. I am thinking about putting the carb heat and mixture on push-pull in the panel, but would like to stay with throttle on a lever if possible. I have access to the side panels. Any ideas?

I'm in the process of changing mine over.  There were several others who have done this, but take a look at my site for the approach I used. Particularly 17 July 2005 and 25 Feb 2006.

Great pics. I have a two lever quadrant in hand, and am deciding whether to modify the installed brock unit or go anew. the pitch trim system is in the way and will have to be worked around in any case.

I have modified my Brock unit, and plan to use push pull cables with that. The mod was fairly simple (cheated a little having all the metal working tools on hand making drilling, countersinking, squeezing, scotch brite wheel finishing, etc), and once I make the cable attach bracket(s) I'll be set. I used the dimensions from the CP letters.
