I have heard about buyers out there that want to buy your LongEZ  and they want you to ship your plane out of the country, to them.  I have a guy named Shin who lives in the U S that has a friend in China.  Need I say more; or do you think he is a viable candidate?

AOPA offers an excellect Escrow Service.  ANYONE who is not willing to share the cost of an escrow service is going to rip you off, PERIOD.

Basically, both parties agree on how the transaction will take place. They put this in writing (Escrow Instructions) and give it to the Escrow Service.

When all the conditions have been met,  paper changes hands.

If I was going to ship an aircraft overseas. I would limit my responsibilitiy to putting the aircraft in a container (Maybe not even that). When The container is sealed, I've satisified my escrow responsibilities. The container doesn't move until I have been paid in full.  These would be instructions I would sign up to.

It would be up to the buyer to arrange broker, container, transit, import into his country, insurance, etc.  

BE CAREFUL, There are a lot of SCAM artists out there.

So long as the check clears the bank before your plane moves, and you are willing to help with shipping hassles, more power to you.

Beware of a possible scam, which this sort of sounds like.

Also may want to check with the Department of State, Home Depot Security, etc to make sure sales to China are legal.  While the US govt has long sat quietly while Israel has helped to stock up the Chinese arsenal, your sale of a LongEz might just be enough to get someone's attention.

It is a bit off topic... It would be quite interesting to see a long EZ in China, considering that it is quite difficult for them to build or own airplanes. I've seen (i think on the discovery channel or in a polish aviation magazine) a chineese canard: a pusher with winglets but no sweep back.

DANGER !  Sounds like a scam. Send nothing before paid in full.
for no reason do not give them you bank account no. That may be what they realy want! Also beware of funny casiers checks. Check with your bank that payment form is safe and has cleared. When ever I post a classified ad I always get emails from overseas Scamers .

Seller be ware!  I've just been introduced to this type of scam technique in trying to sell a sailboat. The single class organisation of the boat knows the scam well. Basically, the buyer feeds you some story, sends you a check usually in overpayment, you deposit and see that it clears, then you send the difference in refund to them and sometimes you even get to the point where you ship the goods.

Problem is that a little more than two weeks later, someone in the bank realizes the check is a forgery. YOu then get to give the bank back the money they gave you and YOU get to loose the excess funds you thought you were refunding to the buyer. And you are stuck with shipping hastle and costs.

A legitimate buyer knows what they are buying. They will have a technical interest and will ask appropriate questions. They will want to make sure they know what they are getting, before being so quick to send payment in full.

Owning and flying private planes in Asia is a goverment sanctioned activity.... i.e. you can't own a private plane unless the government approves or you have the means to grease a lot of palms.....  Why do foreign airliners send their students to US or Europe for training why not just let them fly the plane there  Its because they don't have a fleet of private planes or flight schools sitting in every other corner like the US.....  besides..... the tax alone will kill any thoughts of buying planes and shipping them there (100% tax on whatever value the government declares depending on country)  Sure there are tycoons in every country.... but why fly a Long when you own the airliner   Does this mean that there are no private plane anywhere in Asia No.... its just means for most countries besides Japan have extremely tight regulations on who can own and fly planes..... unless you have lots of green...... or red or orange.... or whatever the color of local currency..... owning a plane is kind of hard when your annual salary is around $25K unless you are in Japan, S Korea or Taiwan..... but the latter two are under constant military readiness... I doubt their government would allow just any joe blow to have license to fly planes...... I don't see how you can call it pleasure flight when a sidewinder is coming toward you at Mach 3......

One last point.... most private plane owned in SE Asia are for hauling stuff to these remote villages like the Cessna 206 or larger variant..... and I certainly don't see a Long fulfilling that role anytime soon.....  just imagine, how many chicken or goats can you stuff in your Long
