I have to say, without all the support of all the Canardians, I'd still be at Best Western Hotel watching all the Harleys' ride by...
All Hats off to SHIRL DICKEY!!!!!!! He flew over Sunday morning with a New Chen Tire and Tube he had. Also a Chunk of Blue Foam and 2x6.
Gus who owns the paint shop there, and the only AP/AI, Ken, on the field helped me for 3+ hours to get the plane moved off the runway..
If you've never been to Wickenberg, the runway runs downhill quickly.
You lose site in the first 1000'. Ken later told me he watched me fuel up and depart down the runway. When he didnt see a plane depart he grabbed the golf cart and hustled down the strip.
Lets see, we burned up 3 wheels on 3 different carts. Ken had the key to an empty hangar. That finished up Saturday.
Spent most of Sunday scrounging up a Floor Jack. Ran into the Towns Dentist working on sealing his Merlins wet tanks. Had to laugh, he had Pro-Seal all over the place. His hair looked like Alfalfa's with the Seal. Anyway he actually took a break and brought me sections of RR ties to make up the difference to life the plane..
The wheel spun straight, so I bought a file in town and spent quite some time dressing the edge. Had to take the brake disc to the bench grinder to clean up the outer edge and clean off the dings on the edge.
Crammed what was left of the pant, and the good side in the back and departed back to Colorado Springs. 3.5 hrs later back on the ground with 23mph gusting to 35.
Plans are to still make Rough River with the help of Burral, Owner of FreeFlight Composites.
I had a chance to look over an L39 and kingAir that Gus just painted. Have to say they are at the top of the list for Quality, and attention to details.
I can't Thank EveryOne enough for the Help and Support..
See Everyone at Rough River
