Hangar Flying / Waiters Flight Data Recorder BETA 3.3.0
« on: March 03, 2008, 04:57:48 PM »
I just placed the latest version on my web site. This version is still BETA, but is very close. If you find any problems, please post here or send me an e-mail.

The new version adds four screens;

1) EFIS (Dynon)

2) EMS (Both Dynon and Grand Rapids)

3) GPS

These screens can be used real time if the recorder computer is connected to the Dynon, GPS or Grand rapids.

The screens are fixed at 640x480. I did this to instll a remote screen in the back seat of my LongEZ and display the Dynon data on that screen.

They also display the flight data when used in the Playback mode of captured serial data.

Hangar Flying / Electric Roll Trim
« on: November 12, 2007, 04:17:59 PM »
I've had several people ask me to share my Electric Roll Trim system design. I installed this system when I originally built my EZ back in the late 1980's. SO, Its been a well proven system (2,600 hours) with no problems.

Basically, I used a MAC servo ( I think they are RAC now), made a spring loaded rod assembly, then attached this to the Aileron torque tube in the rear seat.

Check out all the photos and instructions at:

www.iflyez.com

Scroll down on the left side to CONSTRUCTION, then click on ROLL TRIM.'

The only change I made was to rewire the MAC Servo so I can control it using the Infinity Stick Grip, rather than the original momentary contact switch that was recessed in the left armrest panel.

Good Luck

Hangar Flying / Jeff Rose Ignition Manual Needed
« on: March 27, 2007, 07:40:08 AM »
HELP:

I'm looking for a manual for one of the early model Jeff Rose ignition systems. The model I have is approximately 8 years old. It has the MAP sensor mounted on the same plate as the coils, and I have the sensor assembly thast mounts in the MAG hole.

If you're not able to scan it, I would be more than happy to pay postage both ways if you could send it to me to scan.

I contacted Electroair and they were very helpfull in answering my wiring questions, but he doesn't have a manual for the older system either.

SO, I told them if I find one (a manual) I'll scan it into a PDF file and forward a copy of the PDF file for their archives..

Although Jeff retired, The Jeff Rose Ignition System is alive and well under the name of ElectroAir. Visit their web site at:

Hangar Flying / LongEZ (and other aircraft) Computer mouse cursors
« on: February 08, 2007, 11:46:10 AM »
WELCOME BACK  :D

Its been to cold to work on the LongEZ in the shop, SO, I've been working on the LongEZ on the computer :-)

I've put together a nice selection of LongEZ (and other aircraft) custom computer cursors.

Download and install these on a PC. Now, instead of watching the boring "arrow" cursor, you can log some LongEZ flight time.

ALSO, when your waiting for a program to load, replace the "hourglass" pointer with a LongEZ doing a "Dutchroll" and S-Turns

Visit:

Thanks, and good to have you back.

Hangar Flying / The Smell of Epoxy:
« on: February 11, 2005, 09:50:29 AM »
The Smell of Epoxy,  forgot what it smelled like.  :D   I got the wheel wells installed, will be plugging that big hole in the bottom of the fuselage (where the fixed gear went)  this week-end (I hope)

I left the heater in the barn on all week. Kept the temperature inside at 85. Layups went OK and were workable cured within 24 hours.

Hangar Flying / Infinity Gear Doors
« on: December 29, 2004, 08:05:26 AM »
The plans I have aren't a lot of help when it comes to gear doors (1998 version). Any help (and photos) would be appreciated.

I'm retrofitting my ez with the infinity gear and am now ready to make doors and start plumbing.

1) Door mounting brackets. Ideas on mounting the doors to the legs.

2) Grasscutter(bottom of main door). Ideas on how this is rigged to swing up and down.

3) Inspection/top door (Top of main door), how is this spring loaded, spring type and mounting.

Also any photos on routing hydralic/brake lines.

E-mail me photos if they're to much for this forum. I have high speed, so file size isn't a problem (waiter@iflyez.com)
