The server is running low on disk space, I think I've got it corrected. Sorry about the inconvenience.

Hangar Flying / Long EZ plans updater on downloads page
« on: May 22, 2012, 10:44:05 AM »
Dave(Beagle) Orr has has obtained the LongEZ plans updater document in PDF form and it has been put on the
downloads page:

http://www.ez.org/downloads.htm

Description from Beagle:

Stetson Elliott developed a system called the Long EZ plans updater. It helps builders track the many RAF changes to the Long EZ plans. This notebook can be placed next to the plans, allowing the builder to simply open the updater to the referenced page in the plans and see all the updates immediately.  Any change that affects 3 different chapters, for example, has been reprinted 3 times in the relevant places. Changes to sketches are not included, but that’s not a big problem as the CPs are on line now too.

This Adobe Acrobat (PDF) version was scanned from David "Beagle" Orr's photocopy of Elliott's master and run through an OCR engine (Adobe ClearScan), so it is text-searchable. Digitization services donated by Reiff Lorenz in 2012.

Tom Tugan has done an outstanding job developing a search engine for the Canard Aviators and Cozy mailing lists. He is hosting the search engine on his own servers and has provided both Marc Zeitlin's Unofficial CozyBuilders website and  ez.org an interface to utilize the search.

The CA Search and the Home page of the CA Mail List

The Cozy Search and the  Home page for the Cozy Mail List

Many thanks to Tom for his outstanding work!

Hangar Flying / Unscheduled maintenance today...
« on: April 26, 2012, 04:21:29 PM »
We were down for about an hour today due to an influx of spammers. Spammer registrations has been going up
from 100 per day to over 1000 the last few days. We installed some new software that we hope will take care of
the problem.

The data center where the servers for ez.org are located informed us last week that the building
they are located in will have it's electrical service upgraded and will have all electrical service shutdown
for an extended period Friday Feb 24th from 10pm till Saturday Feb 25th at 6pm.

The outage window is worst case scenario, the actual outage is hopefully going to be much shorter. Due to
the complexity of the work being done a more specific time cannot be given. The data center is located on
the top two floors (26th and 27th) of an office building in downtown Kansas City and the electrical
services is being upgraded to accommodate the rapid growth of the data center. The data center has been
told this is a one time occurrence and will not need to be repeated.

Hangar Flying / Re: Belleville washers to hold props on?
« on: January 04, 2012, 01:21:53 PM »
Marc Zeitlin has a good writeup on his site: http://cozybuilders.org/Prop_Bolt_Bellville_Washer/index.html

I think if Marc endorses it it's a safe thing to do as he seems to be anti-eyeball engineering for most things. And if
the prop god Gary H. does it then then it's got to be ok  ;D

Some people just prefer to remain anonymous on the internet for a lot of reasons. We fully support
that here at ez.org.

Try Ron Gowan in Denton. His email: rongowan@yahoo.com and he is an A&P.

I just wanted to chime in with a little background. I originally went to Terry and suggested
creating the CSA photo archive for two simple reasons.

First, I knew he must have many many more pictures that members had sent in that would ever be able to be
published in the CSA newsletter and I knew that most of these would never see the light of day and be
able to provide inspiration and ideas for builders and enjoyment for flyers.

The other reason is the pictures allow us to see in full color all the great things that CSA members are doing. It's
very difficult to see in the black and white newsletter some of the craftsmanship that goes into much of the work
until you see a high res photo of it. Some of the work from Wayne Blackler comes to mind, his cowls and air intakes
are works of art and being able to see them in high res makes you appreciate the quality that much more. But there
are many other mods that meet the same level of quality.

There is nothing stopping anyone from submitting photo's to ez.org directly. You can upload images directly but I think
most people do not take the time and it's much easier to send them to Terry on a CD. If anyone wants to send a CD to
me with their pictures I'll be glad to load them under your user name and they will be free to all. If every one spreads
the word it would be easy to go from mostly CSA password-ed pics to mostly free pics. Just PM me and I'll give
you the mailing info.

With all that said however, in my opinion everyone should be a member of CSA just like we should all be members of AOPA because canards and general aviation will die unless we all band together and support both. Except for Beagles newsletter CSA is the only newsletter dedicated to Canards and getting it is like clockwork. We can expect to get it on time, every quarter and know it will be loaded with great articles.

Have a great holiday and a prosperous new year!

This forum has at times in the past been overrun with spammers and we are trying something new
to eliminate them.

When you register the system will ask you a question that makes no sense. The answer is the word duck. Without this answer you cannot register.

If you have problems and are not a spammer email admin@ez.org

Thanks!
