This page is intended to keep family and friends updated on the progress of my homebuilt aircraft, Cozy MKIV. I started building 1 year after my wife bought me the plans as a gift. This will be the second homebuilt I have partaken in.  The first was a Murphy Rebel on amphibious floats.  For more information on the Cozy, visit Cozy Aircraft Mfg or the Unofficial Cozy Page

Control System/Canopy

Just installed the elevator attach hardware.  Somehow I ended up installing the bearing blocks 1/2" aft of where they should be according to the plans.  I think I measured the front vs aft side of instrument panel measurement error.  Worked out OK with no interference, just needed to add that length back into CS-107.  I plan on installing the triangle supports ala Wayne Hicks, but I do intend on glassing in the front armrests.  I will make access covers in the sides so I can get to the control system if need be.

For the canopy, I made the rear windows (and effectively the front) larger by 2" both at the aft and bottom edge and made the forward edge of the canopy ~1.75" taller using Rick Maddy's templates.  Mico (far right picture) LOVES the Cozy maybe even more than I do.  Every time he sneaks into the garage, he sleeps in the plane in the right seat.  But I told him at 18lbs, if I throw him up in the air, he better not come down or he can't go flying :-)
