Title: Whelen Lenses are made of glass!!!
Post by: Kilo42 on September 14, 2007, 08:31:42 PM
Yep, lesson learned. Those pretty colored lenses on your position lights do not bounce off concrete. Now I need a clear aft lense for a whelen postion light / strobe.
Anybody happen to have one sitting around?

Did that too. Aircraft Spruce stocks them. Marc LE 770EZ

Been there done that too  . Very sad situation.. Couldn't believe how much it cost to replace just the red lense. Something like $17.00 ! ! Won't do that again ! !

That little clear light lens is $31.30 from Spruce. When I found out the price I collected all the pieces and stuck them together with ceramic cement! Been flying OK for about 100 hrs. Easyrider

Well, the darn thing shattered into a million pieces. Bit the $31 bullet and with shipping almost $40. Crazy!

Consider these for your next plane---I put them on my Longez. They are better than Whelan---and come in a lot of user selectable flash patterns---plus they are cheaper too.
