For Sale/Wanted / Re: Thoughts on Varieze's for sale
« on: March 13, 2013, 12:17:11 PM »
I think the corrosion issue is vastly overstated. There has never been a single instance of a fitting failure in flight and only a handful(2 or 3?) found on the ground. I believe that most if not all of those were stored outside. I think a lot of it was "cover your ass" by Rutan. In my opinion Rutan is a brilliant engineer and designer and the fittings are more than strong enough. If you consider how many guys routinely crank and bank their Varieze's at high G's without a single inflight failure I think you will gain a level of confidence.

I also think Varieze's selling for 15K is crazy, I'd take a good Vari over a C172 at 25K any day. They are the buy of the century at 15K.

Hangar Flying / Re: FAA registration question
« on: March 13, 2013, 12:10:36 PM »
As far as I know you cannot get the repairman's cert for sure but that is not a huge problem. You need an A&P to do the condition inspection but you can do all the work on it yourself as long as it's quality work and the A&P is willing to certify it is airworthy. As far as the paperwork, just call up your local FSDO and ask them how to proceed, in my experience they are very helpful. They will probably want a new 40 hour flight test period since the engine/prop has changed and probably a completely new airworthiness inspection.

Sorry about the delay in responding, I've been busy of late.

I've sold a lot of the parts and I've not been able to get the site updated. I'll have to go
through what is left and update things. Not sure about the mags or wheel pants.

I've got pictures for everything online, here is the link to the ducting: http://www.eztosee.com/shop/product.php?id_product=62.

Let me know if you cannot see it.

You see all the parts(with pictures) using the link below:

The link to the website is: http://www.eztosee.com/shop/

Any that have sold show "Out of stock".

Thanks!

Sorry about the delay in responding, things have been hectic as usual.

>>Prop extension: How long and what manu. Thanks, Bob

It's a 3", you can see the info here: http://www.eztosee.com/shop/product.php?id_product=98 don't know
who makes it. Is there a way to tell?

Stan: I do have a set of wheel pants, I think they were made by Featherlight. Here is the
link: http://www.eztosee.com/shop/product.php?id_product=103

The panel is .060 6061 and is cut for a standard Long-EZ. If you still need more info on the panel you can
email me using this link: http://www.eztosee.com/shop/contact-form.php and we can try to
find a time to talk more. Thanks!

A lot of parts have sold, many thanks to everyone, I'm starting to see some room in the hangar.

For Sale/Wanted / Re: Exhaust for a 0-235 Engine
« on: September 08, 2011, 03:29:34 PM »
None of the EZ's had mufflers, that I recall. You really don't
want that muffler weight way back there for W&B reasons anyway.

In the air the sound is much different than a typical front engined aircraft
and it's not as bad in my opinion.

Good luck and have fun with your new Long EZ!

The nose lift has sold, very sorry.

I do have a set of Varieze cowls. They are old style stock cowls but the lower cowl is
modified. The Varieze the cowls are from did 195mph with a 100hp engine and I think the lower
cowl was a large part of that speed. I can run out and take pictures of the cowl this weekend.

Hey guys, I've got a lot of parts and instruments for sale from various projects mostly canard
related from the past 10 years. Many of these items are new or have just been installed in projects
during the building phase.

A partial list is below. I setup a separate website to list all the items and I have pictures for
almost everything. Make me an offer on anything you are interested in where don't like the price and
I'll consider it. I'm not desperate, just simplifying life and making some room. Feel free to contact me
with any questions.

The link to the website is: http://www.eztosee.com/shop/.

Thanks for looking!

Hangar Flying / trucking dimensions for long-ez
« on: September 28, 2005, 11:41:03 AM »
A uhaul can be used to haul a Long-EZ.

It must be inserted at an angle. A support structure should be built to support it at the proper angle.

Wings can be hung from the sides.

There is an article somewhere on this site, here is the link to
the articles pictures:

About 9'6" across the strakes. It can be loaded into the largest U-Haul truck at an angle. Wings can be hung from the sides.
