I am again reporting for an Eze-driver friend. His internet is down for upgrade. You may remember that he was trying to get to Rough River last year and failed again. He says that he is trying to get to Oshkosh but is working on a last minute mod and still cant get the wheel pants just right. He hopes to meet with Burt and Richard Branson about some ideas he has on getting to higher altitudes. A picture of his plane is attached. I believe you have to be signed in to see it. Bill James

Dave,
I was thinking the race started somwhere out in Nebraska or SD this year?
Bill,
I am rendered nearly speechless by the picture you posted. I'm just sure that Sir Richard will be most interested.............

He needs help getting to higher altitudes because of numerous 2000 foot msl ridgelines on his route to Oshkosh, or RR, or anywhere else. One of his recent efforts was to add spoilers. He tried 2x4 and 2x6 pine studs on top of the wings but couldn't detect a difference in approach speed, cruise speed, or at any other speeds. He is hoping that switching the current Model T wheel pants to the fenders off his Indian motorcycle will get him that last five knots, which will up his cruise speed 10%.

Bill,
I think I have a set of carbon fiber, pressure recovery wheel pants off an old Farman MF-7 that might work for him? ;D

They alternate between Mitchell, SD and Dayton, OH for the start of the race. This year it is from Dayton. If anyone is thinking about entering, the last day to apply is July 15th. Here's all the details - www.airventurecup.com (http://www.airventurecup.com)
