For Sale/Wanted / Re: O-235 core for sale
« on: December 19, 2011, 03:03:39 PM »
The engine is located in MA I would be more than happy to dig out the logs and look them over. I can tell you this its a fairly high time core with about 4500 hours and a couple of rebuilds. It was running when pulled out of a long ez back in the late 90s and replaced with a Subaru. I was going to rebuild the o-325 but I came across a low time o-325 and decided to go that route rather than re build the one I had.

Feel free to give me a call 508-615-6816

For Sale/Wanted / O-235 core for sale
« on: December 09, 2011, 08:53:35 AM »
I have an O-235 c1 core for sale with logs. It came out of a long ez and sat for 10 years. I pulled the jugs off and was going to have it rebuilt but something else came along and I went that route instead. I need it out of my basement and some one can have it for short money. $500.00 you pay to move it.

Hangar Flying / INsurance

I contacted Avemco and they do not provide passenger liability and personal injury insurance for a Long EZ. They only cover outside liability and personal injury for the pilot. They do however provide passenger insurance for other types of experimental aircraft.

Does any one know of a provider that will cover the passenger?

Thank

Bill

It still needs a little tweaking of the cooing system number 4 is running hot.  I have about $50,000.00 into it and am asking $42,000.00 I have no available time or money to justify keeping the plane . I have an ad on Barnstormers with some photos. E-mail ncormier@cox.net

Hangar Flying / Forward controle pressure
« on: November 03, 2010, 01:20:44 PM »
I seem to need quite a bit of forward pressure  to keep my canard down during level flight. I have an o-235 and cruise at about 150 Knts. My empty weight and cg are 957lbs at 108.77 inches. With me and 30 gallons of fuel my cg falls at 101.38 about the aft limit's of the first flight box of 101.5 well within limits of the aft CG of 104. I have shortened the trim spring by and inch and added 14 pounds to the nose. What should I do next should I add more weight to the nose or get a stronger springs?

The CG of 101.38 includes the nose weight of 14lbs at station #6

Any suggestion is helpful

Hangar Flying / Re: Fuel vent
« on: September 13, 2010, 07:13:13 PM »
This is wildbird again just wanted to say thanks for the input. It also seems to me I could just vent the cap with a very small drill hole if this becomes a problem. I was told by a fellow EZ builder  that he used the caps that were called out for in the plans and it has about a .040 drill hole in the cap and he seems not to have any problem.

Hangar Flying / Fuel vent
« on: September 09, 2010, 10:09:49 AM »
I had a strange event happen  yesterday. My Long-EZ was sitting parked nose down in the hanger with about 40 gallons of fuel in the left tank and 30 in the right. It was hot and getting hotter into the low 90s. All of a sudden I heard a gurgling sound and fuel shot out of the left vent and shot all the way to the front and hit my instrument panel and all over my interior. As soon as it started it stopped. My guess is with that much fuel in the tank and the nose down that the vent line must be under fuel and the pressure built up and shot the fuel all over the place. I've seen them drip a little but not shoot out like that. I wonder if the line was partially clogged with a mud wasp or something and it gave way under pressure and shot the fuel out. Maybe I should drill a tiny vent hole in the cap?

Paul I think I can help, I live in central MA and have a long EZ and I used to have a Vari-Eze many years ago. Unfortunately my Long is not quite finished but should fly this summer. I do have friends in the area that could get you a ride. I also hold a commercial helicopter rating that I got in an R-22 about 25 years ago.

My E-mail is ncormier@cox.net and my Cell is 508-615-6816

Give me a buzz if you would like to chat. :)
