Hangar Flying

E-racer spar, constructed as per plans but with two modifications:

1. Bottom of the spar is straight like a Long-EZ / Cozy 3 spar, with no dropped center section to accommodate the driveshaft arrangement that was part of the original V8 E-racer's powertrain. If you plan to hang an aircraft engine on the firewall (like most do) then why do you need that dropped section anyway?

2. Spar is entirely constructed with Divinycell foam core (not that Urethane crap), and Pro-Set epoxy resin.

This spar could also be used for a Long-EZ, if you build wings to match. That means building wings using the E-racer layup schedule (25% thicker spar caps & (IIRC) 1 more full length ply in the shear web). This is what gives the E-racer it's 300 mph VNE vs the Long-EZ's 220 mph. This would also require strake skins that are 2" longer as this spar is 2" narrower than Long-EZ...and would give some added fuel capacity in the tanks

Just got a phone call from Vince at Advanced Composite Traders. He was checking to see if I needed any more BID. Which I don't, but some of you guys might. 2.93 was the price he quoted me for Hexcell 38" 7725 - the same stuff Wicks & Spruce sell for around 7 bucks. Shipping costs are reasonable too.

I would like to join the CSA.  I am currently a long way from home, have no access to a post office or stamps, have no checks (does anybody even use those anymore?), and so no way to pay and join this organization.  Until I get back home in about 5 weeks, and then I'll be so busy that I won't think of it.  Even then, I'd have to drive into town and buy a money order, then go to the post office to mail it.  What a pain.  Shouldn't there be an easier way?  I mean, c'mon...its 2012 here.

Here's a suggestion:  If there was a Paypal account to which membership dues could be sent, this would be SO much easier.  Money can be sent thru Paypal as a "gift" and there are no fees charged... but I'd even be willing to pay extra to cover the fees just to join the club and avoid the inconveniences.

If I can buy hundreds of dollars worth of airplane crap and have it shipped to my house while I'm out in the middle of the ocean, it seems like there should be a similar way to spend 35 bucks to join the airplane club.

SO...anybody want a screamin deal on a nice, shiny, never-installed-but-lightly-fondled 199-152 kit, complete with axles?  I'll even throw in some AirHawk tires.

New these things are $1366 at Spruce, plus another $100 for the axles.

Hit me up with an offer....I have a figure in mind.

I have a pair of new-in-the-box Cleveland 10-35 Master Cylinders listed on Ebay. I have no idea if there is a market for these items.  I got them as part of a Cozy project I bought, and I really want to use Matcos. 

These things sell at Spruce for $469 ea...which is ludicrous for what they are...but apparently they are a certified part.  I have them listed each with a $200 reserve.

However, if anybody on this forum wants these, I would sell them for what a set of Matco master cylinders and remote reservoirs would cost me.  I think that would be around $300.  Better yet, the buyer could just order me the Matco cylinders and Grove remote reservoirs, and hoses to connect them, and have them shipped to me, and I could ship them these Clevelands in return.
