Title: Replacing firewall stainless steel

I'm thinking about a major reconfigure of my firewall.  To do this, I'd need to remove and replace the existing stainless steel, since I do not want a lot of patches or holes to nowhere.

Does anyone have any advice for removing the stainless and taking this back down to the fiberglass?

I pulled my stainless steel to do some work to the firewall. Mine had the fiberfrax in between the steel and firewall. The stainless steel/fiberfrax was simply glued on using a silicone type adhesive. I believe that is per plans. The panel pulled away very easily. I took a putty knife with a sharpened edge and removed the residual silicone adhesive. The fiberfrax had to be replaced due to it's own fragility. I used 3M spray adhesive to re-apply the new fiberfrax. Of course my engine is not mounted and I had only to remove the rudder cable hardware.
