Title: Infinity Gear Doors
Post by: Waiter on December 29, 2004, 08:05:26 AM
The plans I have aren't a lot of help when it comes to gear doors (1998 version). Any help (and photos) would be appreciated.
I'm retrofitting my ez with the infinity gear and am now ready to make doors and start plumbing.
1) Door mounting brackets. Ideas on mounting the doors to the legs.
2) Grasscutter(bottom of main door). Ideas on how this is rigged to swing up and down.
3) Inspection/top door (Top of main door), how is this spring loaded, spring type and mounting.
Also any photos on routing hydralic/brake lines.
E-mail me photos if they're to much for this forum. I have high speed, so file size isn't a problem (waiter@iflyez.com)

Waiter, Wow you really have the bug bad. I know how that feels. Hope the mods get you lots more speed. Wish there was an infinity gear for the Defiant. I'll see you some time in Bluffton, at the restaurant. Might be 2006 with all you have planned however.... Harry Manvel

Harry,
I won't finish last at Jackpot this year. Hopefully I should only be down a couple months. Main tasks are the retracts and downdraft cooling. also getting rid of the left Bendix mag and replacing it with an e-mag. This will give me dual electronic ignition. Adding a Danon to the instrument panel. Also adding EZLift nose lift and finally installing nose gear doors.
Hopefully with the drag reduction I should be able to cruise at 200kts at 2500 ft. (Thats the goal anyway)
Give me a hollor if you guys make a trip to Blufton, maybe I'll catch a ride.

Out of curiosity, what general approach are you taking to install a down-draft system?
On the net I've seen: http://www.geocities.com/~kleb/homebuilt/shell/ and http://x-jets.com/downdraft_cooling.html
?

The idea I have very closely resemble the X-jets design
