Title: ID this fuel cap

My fuel cap broke and I need to order a new one. It would be nice to get a locking cap, but we will see.

Looking through the build logs I could not find what type this was.

looks just like the one on a van's RV-7.  a new one can be bought here.

Just ordered the ones from Aircraft Spruce this morning. As soon as they get here I'll add the chains and get back in the air.

New caps arrived. Just in time too! We had a nice winter storm last night that is turning to freezing rain this evening. As it turns out they were the Usher style caps.

Allan,

Did that usher fuel cap have a 2" diameter?  Also what did the hole look like? Is it just a aluminum ring in the wing?  I need to replace my caps as they don't seal anymore but I don't want to replace the receptacle in the wing.  Does anyone out there have any ideas?  The current caps "seal" by exerting outward on a rubber grommet.  The grommet has since gotten hard so now it doesn't seal anymore.  I would be happy with a similar setup if it just sealed!

The new caps come with an outer ring that is to be glassed into the plane. The marketing is aimed at someone who is mid build. Obviously I just wanted the caps. The Usher caps were 2" in diameter and seated very well in my existing fuel port. In my case this was no more complicated than taking the new caps out of the box and put them on the plane. So far it has been the best $40 I have spent.

Right now the plane is at the A&P's to have a brake job and a physical before the wife gets home from the sandbox. While it is down I will have them install the fuel cap chains.

When I get back home it should all be ready to go.

Bear in mind that ACS lists a small and large O-ring replacements for this cap. Maybe you just need these replacements at just a couple of bucks?
I need to replace one of mine because it got misplaced and the one being used in the interim is just too uglky!
