Hangar Flying / Back Seat Fuel Tank Construction/Plumbing
« on: April 11, 2006, 01:49:16 PM »
I am two years into the construction of a new VE.  After reading a recent post from Waiter, I'd like to ask for suggestions/opinions about aux fuel tanks in a Varieze and Pro's/Con's for back seat vs. wing pod tanks, etc.  I am also open to suggestions about plumbing, mounting, and any other idea you might have on installation.  Photos, diagrams, or links to websites would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Trevor

Hangar Flying / Varieze Main Wing Anhedral
« on: May 24, 2005, 10:05:24 AM »
Gentlemen, I am nearly finished with my second varieze wing and will soon be mounting the attach brackets to the center spar.  Over the years I have read a few opinions on the main wing anhedral.  Some feel the plane flies better with the anhedral decreased or removed altogether.  While I tend to be a stock builder and embrace few modifications, this is one change that cannot be made later.  If you have flown a VE with this type of modification and can make a recommendation, I would like to hear from you.  Thanks in advance,
Trevor

Hangar Flying / Engine for Varieze
« on: January 25, 2005, 06:48:35 AM »
Gentlemen,
For the VE drivers, what did your total engine package weigh?  I am half-way through the fuselage construction and have started saving for an engine.  There are several new types available.  Jabiru has a 4 cylinder (85HP) a 6 cylinder (120HP) and an eight cylinder (170HP) on the market.  See the link below for engine weights.

The weights given seem to include everything but exhaust.  I built the "Eric Cobb" longer nose and have room to put the battery up front to balance more engine.  Does the extra HP offset the extra weight of the 8-cylinder or is it just too much.  I'm interested to see what your Ve engine installations weighed.
Thanks,
Trevor
